There is a modern NZ version of Monopoly coming, and at the moment you can vote on which places you want to be in.
Which is where this story from todays Herald comes from. Palmerston North and New Plymouth are engaging in a slanging match over who should represent the central north island. The choice is between Pukekura Park in New Plymouth, The Square in Palmerston North and the third option is Mt Ruapehu.
New Plymouth is definitely the better city - has the best contemporary Art gallery in Australasia - the Govett Brewster, has Puke Ariki, and the wind wand! But regardless, Mt Ruapehu is definitely more significant than either.
The big question though, which the lame mainstream media have failed to ask - what about the Asian Market Gardener in Levin??? The Mall?? New World??? That kids park on the main road?? Hmm on second thought.
